Italian women’s fashion is all about the jewelry, says the fashion designer Alessandra Tissot, but not everyone buys it.
She explains why the same type of jewelry can be a sign of both elegance and femininity.
“It has to do with the way the women are wearing the jewelry,” says Tissots fashion director Maria Rosalia.
“And it’s about their femininity, because the jewelry makes them look more feminine and that’s why they wear it.”
The trend is still in its infancy, and there are plenty of other Italian designers and brands that are doing it right.
The jewelry trend has been popular in the U.S. for decades, but the Italian trend is in its prime.
Tissott says the jewelry is so prevalent that some of her competitors are starting to feel the pinch.
She’s now focusing on her niche: Italian women.
“The Italian market is very, very different from the American market, but it’s very similar to the U, because it’s the same kind of thing,” she says.
“There’s this very, you know, sophisticated Italian-American lifestyle and I think that’s really appealing.”
Tissotto says she thinks women in Italy will continue to wear jewelry even as they look to modernize.
“I’m a very conscious person and I want to make sure that I wear a lot of jewelry that is very feminine,” she explains.
“But I also know that there are certain aspects that are very masculine, and I do think that I can find my feminine side through the jewelry.”
