CHICAGO — Women’s clothing retailer Chico Shoes has set a new sales record for the first week of its 2017 calendar year, according to its website.
Chico Shoes was launched in 2010 and is now owned by a company based in San Diego.
The company says that it sold more than 3 million items in the first quarter of 2017, breaking its own sales record of 2 million set in the same period last year.
The new record sales are the company’s highest quarterly sales for a calendar year since it began tracking sales in 2011.
Chicagoland-based Chico said the record sales come on top of sales of more than 1 million pieces during the quarter, including a record-breaking number of women’s shoes.
Chick-fil-A, meanwhile, says it has also surpassed the 2 million-piece mark in the quarter and expects to break the record in the coming weeks.
